San Quirico - Organic Winery

San Quirico Winery - An organic tradition in San Gimignano since 1860

For generations, the San Quirico Farm has passionately cultivated its lands in the heart of San Gimignano, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an ideal location for producing high-quality organic wine.

Our organic wines are made from select grapes grown exclusively in our vineyards and are produced strictly following the principles of certified organic farming, respecting the environment and local winemaking traditions.

All stages of production, from harvesting to winemaking, from refining to bottling, are carried out directly on our farm, guaranteeing traceability, quality, and authenticity.

Our philosophy is to enhance the territory: each glass reflects the perfect harmony between the soil, climate, and typical San Gimignano grape varieties.

The company began selling bottled wines in 1974, establishing itself on both the national and international markets. In 2004, San Quirico obtained organic certification in accordance with EC regulations 834/07 and 889/08; since 2012, its winemaking has also been entirely certified organic.

Every day we welcome visitors from all over the world with tastings and wine tours organized directly on the farm, allowing them to experience our business and our organic production firsthand.

The quality of the San Gimignano soil is ideal for growing grapes: the hills, their exposure, and their geological origin—soils formed from Pliocene marine deposits characterized by sand and clay—favor a perfect balance between vegetation and production and the production of high-quality grapes.

These characteristics make the area particularly suited to the production of organic Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a quality confirmed by studies conducted in the 1990s by the University of Florence.

Our vineyards extend over approximately 12 hectares and are home to primarily native grape varieties:

  • White grapes: Vernaccia di San Gimignano (predominant), Trebbiano Toscano, and Malvasia Bianca for the production of Vinsanto.
  • Red grapes: Sangiovese (predominant), with small amounts of Merlot and Syrah.

This biodiversity allows us to produce authentic, complex, and elegant organic wines, a perfect expression of the San Gimignano terroir.
